National Drift Championship Final to Hold on Makhata Mountain

Organized by BMW Club Georgia and supported by Socar Georgia Petroleum, the National Drift Championship final was held on Makhata mountain on November 22th.

Due to the restrictions imposed during the pandemic in 2020, the championship was held in three stages. The first stage took place in the central square of Khoni municipality on August 22-23 and ended with the victory of Nodo Kodua.

As for the second stage, the championship was held on the territory of the Didgori war monument, which is located about 1700 meters above sea level, where Mevlud Meladze became the winner.

The third, final stage of the championship took place on Makhata Mountain, and Nodo Kodua won the final competition. It is also worth mentioning, that Aleksandre Kherodinashvili took second place in both competitions and gathered the highest scores, thus, he was the leader of the championship. The difference between the scores of these three racers was minimal, which is why the competition reached its peak in the final. Because of these reasons, this was the largest and most spectacular competition, which had more than 30 professional racer participants.

The championship was estimated by the international referees' panel. The general sponsor of the event, Socar Georgia Petroleum awarded the winners with prizes: 1st place - 500 liters; 2nd place - 300 liters, and 3rd place - 200 liters of fuel.

The series of drifting aims to attract racing lovers and reduce the number of dangerous street racing cases.

Socar Georgia Petroleum is actively involved in the development of racing since 2018, which is significantly contributed to the goal of maintaining road safety. It is also worth mentioning, that security is an integral part of Socar's corporational social responsibilities, which combine 5 standards, including environmental protection, supporting youth, strengthening woman, and security of the rights of people with disabilities and the elderly.
