Government Postpones New Academic Year Inauguration for 2 Weeks

The new academic year’s inauguration at higher and higher schools has been postponed for 2 weeks in Georgia’s big cities, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia told reporters after the coordination board’s meeting on September 11.

The academic year was postponed for 2 weeks in Batumi, Kobuleti, Tbilisi, Rustavi, Gori, Zugdidi, Poti and Kutaisi.

“The academic year’s inauguration has been postponed up to October 1 in such major cities as Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Gori, Zugdidi and Poti. In these cities the academic year will start on October 1, at both a high and higher schools. During this period we will appraise the existing risks and to this end we will work together epidemiologists and after that we will take additional decisions”, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia noted.
