Demand for COVID-19 Vaccines is Higher than Supply in Tbilisi - Amiran Gamkrelidze
According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, the demand for COVID-19 vaccines in Tbilisi is higher than supply.
The head of the NCDC explained that the process of intensifying vaccination was discussed again today at the Coordinating Council. Vaccination brigades will be mobilized to meet the demand in Tbilisi.
"178,000 people have been registered on Pfizer vaccines, of which 12,000 are second vaccinations, while the rest of the appointments are on the first dose.
The appointments are intensive, and we have a special problem in Tbilisi since the demand is much higher here than the supply, so the number of vaccine locations grows.
Today, there are 167 vaccination locations in the country and about 404 incomplete brigades, if you take it for a 7-day working day, it is about 250 brigades across the country: of which 37 facilities and 120 brigades are working for Pfizer, 25 facilities and 33 brigades on AstraZeneca, while one can be vaccinated with Sinopharm in 122 establishments and 133 brigades, and with Sinovac in 109 establishments and 116 brigades.
The total throughput today is in the range of 18,000 and our target is 20-25 thousand.
"Many brigades, especially in Tbilisi, are moving to a 12-hour working day, and at the same time, up to 100 additional brigades have been mobilized in Tbilisi.", added Amiran Gamkrelidze.
