Dea Kulumbegashvili's Beginning Wins Trieste Film Festival
Dea Kulumbegashvili's film "Beginning" became the winner of the Trieste International Film Festival in Italy.
Georgian drama received the title and prize of the best full-length film and 5000 Euros.
The award ceremony of the Trieste International Film Festival was held online and was led by the artistic directors of the film festival - Nicoletta Romeo and Fabricio Grozoli.
The main award of the festival for the best film was presented by the jury member Paolo Bertolini, after which the award ceremony was joined online from Tbilisi by director Dea Kulumbegashvili.
"The debut work is an example of self-confidence, flawless stylistic narrative, which creates a unique cinematic world of images, sound and imagination. The leading actor (Ia Sukhitashvili) deserves a special mention. " - The jury of the film festival described "the beginning" with these words.
The Trieste International Film Festival has a history of thirty years. About 50 feature, short and documentary works were presented at this year's award.
The film is a Georgian-French joint production, which won funding from the National Film Center's debut full-length feature film competition. The script belongs to Kulumbegashvili and Rati Oneli. The main roles are played by Ia Sukhitashvili, Rati Oneli, Kakha Kintsurashvili and Saba Gogichaishvili. The filming took place in Lagodekhi municipality.
