Ceramic Art and Beyond - Handmade Scupltures Interior Accessories by BekaTabaguaCeramics
Having grown up with creative parents who were also in this field, after some time, Beka Tabagua realized, that Ceramics is the drainless sphere filled with dozens of surprises. He studied at Tbilisi Art Academy and started actively working on clay. After focusing on combining sculptures, his practice evolved to a unique pattern he created while working on different accessories and souvenirs.
"I sculpted my first workpiece at the age of 11. I created ceramics vessel on Georgian motives.", tells Beka Tabagua CBW.
As it turns out, his first piece has transformed into a talisman, and even today, it has an honorable place at every one of his exhibitions.
To discover his artistic process and inspiration, CBW asked Beka about his working process and challenges.
"Working with the ceramics for me is complete nirvana. This field is inexhaustible and every time I discover something new. The process includes both pleasant and unpleasant surprises.
The pottery on the Georgian market has significantly developed over the last 10 years. People today prefer handmade pottery. Sometimes there are small misunderstandings about prices, since the high cost of ceramic materials. But even this moment can be overcome.", stated Beka Tabagua.
Beka seeks inspiration in human relationships. The energy of different people plays a very big role and all this is very often reflected in his sculptures.
His workpieces are not characterized by the determined concept. As he says, every new project is a new possibility for him.
"I can only say, that I put my emotions into my work and I think, this attitude is easily felt by the viewers. While working on the ceramics, the most pleasant is the sculpting process. I am very happy with the fact that I'm creating something out of nothing. The firing and glazing stages are also very interesting. After each firing, I wait like a small child to open the oven and to see how my work came out. The main charm is that you never fully understand what it will look like in the end. This is sometimes a problem from a commercial point of view. For instance, while ordering, there is a risk that the shape and color will not turn out the way the customer wishes to. In this case, you have to start over and spend double energy.", declares a ceramics designer.
His production is available via social networks, his official Facebook page, his own website: http://bekatabagua.ge/, and different types of open-air markets. Also, one who wishes to purchase the production on-site can visit his studio.
As for the future steps, he plans a number of personal exhibitions both in Georgia and abroad.
"I want to introduce my creativity to the world. I think I am going in the right direction towards these plans and it gives me great incentive."
