Active Life is My Passion - Socar Continues to Support Sports Adventures for People with Disabilities
The company Socar continues to support the sports project "Active Life is My Passion". The project, which is run by the Youth Media Connections and includes more than 20 activities and approximately 500 people with disabilities, was hosted by Kachreti Hotel Ambassador. Within the frameworks of the week dedicated to Veterans' Day, several sports competitions were held, in which veterans and soldiers wounded in peacekeeping missions, as well as people with disabilities, participated. Several competitions included golf, horseback riding, stand shooting, and bowling.
The tournament of mini-golf was held on a team basis. Each time considered five people. The activity was very adventurous, the competition did not lack applause either. The team of para-wrestler, Nino Sabashvili, won the transitional cup for a period of 1 year.
Almost all participants of the project, including people with spinal cord injuries and amputations, tested their strength in horseback riding. It appeared to be an unforgettable experience and a first-time experience for many.
The championship of the stand shooting was interesting and excitable. More than 25 participants fought for the victory. In the end, Gela Kheladze, who was wounded in a peacekeeping mission, became the winner. The veteran, Badri Togonidze, and the guest of the project, Alexandre Iakobashvili took the second and third places.
The project was finished with a bowling tournament. 6 teams participated in the championship. The participants were supporting each other and meeting the best results with applauses. Individual and team winners were revealed, who were given certificates. The team of Naomi Gogiberidze, a soldier wounded in Afghanistan won the Kachreti 2020 cup and celebrated the victory.
The project aims to encourage the enactment of the convention on the scale of Georgia and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of the human rights of persons with disabilities.
The partners of the project are the Ministry of Defense of Georgia and the Veterans' Cases State Department.
