"Active Life is My Passion" Held Camp 2020 Supported by Socar
Within the frameworks of the project "Active Life is My Passion", 8-day Camp 2020 was held supported by Socar. The Camp 2020 was intended for soldiers and veterans wounded in different peacekeeping missions and military operations. The Camp 2020 was held in winery Makhare, in Terjola.
More than 20 injured military servicemen and more than 100 people with disabilities living in the different regions of Georgia tested their strength in integrated sport and cultural competitions. They competed in backgammon and domino tournaments, archery, and arm wrestling championships, paralympic sports such as Boccia and sitting volleyball. Also, the Georgian championship was held for rafting.
Symbolically, fencing bouts and paintball competitions were held on August 8th. The culinary duel was also held on this day, which mainly involved the theme of the 2008 August War.
Every activity was held together with the federations and professional referees. Prizes were also given to the winners of the first, second, and third places.
The company Socar has been supporting the project "Active Life is My Passion" for two years. More than 500 people with disabilities, wounded military servicemen, and veterans participate in the project activities annually.
The project helps them to increase their motivation to stay active and show their abilities in various sports.
The project "Active Life is My Passion" promotes the implementation of the 30th article of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The project aims to encourage the enactment of the convention on the scale of Georgia and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of the human rights of persons with disabilities.
