White Studio Plans to Open Brand Store in Madrid

Due to the pandemic, prices for ceramic products produced in Georgia are rising. The reason besides the restrictions related to shipping is the instability of the Lari exchange rate. Due to the fact that quality clay is not produced in the country, raw materials are imported and purchased in other currencies.

"Despite the growing interest, the demand on ceramics is decreased in Georgia. This is mainly due to prices. We work on imported raw material since quality clay is not produced in Georgia. As the whole world hindered, so did the factory that supplied us with clay. Additionally, the exchange rate was changed, which made the material even more expensive.  At least, the cost of production has increased by nearly 20%.", noted Nato Eristavi, co-founder of White Studio.

White Studio plans to balance White Studio plans to offset the decline in sales with exports, and from this year, the company will only sell 20% of total production in the local market.

The production of White Studio will be exported to Madrid, Holland, America, and neighboring countries. In 2021, they also plan to open a brand store in Madrid.

White Studio started as an experiment in 2013 by Nato Eristavi and Nino Kambarashvili. Currently, the company employs 40 people. They also have a studio, where people who are interested are taught to work on the pottery.
