Tea "Lazi" Exports to China to Suspend Due to the Expensive Outbound Logistics
Tea "Lazi"'s export to China became more expensive due to the surge in prices because of logistics in the supply and transport chain.
According to the head of the company, Goneri Salia, before the pandemic, shipping 1 container cost $4,000 before the pandemic, whereas from 2021, the shipping price accounted for $15,000. Thus, production cost was increased for China, which was unprofitable for them.
"They suspended purchasing Georgian tea, however, there are rumors that the prices will stabilize this year and cooperation with "Lazi" will be restored in the future."
Currently "Lazi" tea is sold in the local market. The exporting countries are of the tea are Tajikistan and Ukraine. The selling price of 1 kilogram of the highest quality "Lazi" tea is 30 GEL.
