The team of Edison Tech Solution decided to make smart lockers in Georgia and as a result, create a cheap and competitive product in both Georgian and international markets. The first smart locker is now set up in the trading center Gallery Tbilisi.
One can select a box with the desired size on the touch screen and keep the luggage/item safe while shopping. Mentioned practice is widespread in the world but in case of Georgia, large trade centers had an outdated solution so far.
According to the founder of Edison, Givi Beridze, everyone used one system: metal boxes, which are opened with an iron key. In this case, it was possible to find out which box one used for the item with the number on the boxes and keys.
"This is the solution of the previous century, which has been proven many times to be outdated since keys are often lost/spoiled and thus, 1 key opens 2 or more boxes, which creates additional problems.
We approached the problem-solving in a modern way. We created a smart locker, which is managed by a single touch screen. The visitor can see on the screen, which lockers are already used and which are free. With one click, visitors can open a free locker and after this, the PIN code and QR code are available in its print form. Before leaving, if one forgets where her/his item is stored, she/he will scan the code and the locker will automatically open the appropriate drawer.
The locker is fully developed in Georgia. This is one more Georgian product, which has potential in both Georgian and international markets since automatization of production significantly reduces its price, compared to the Chinese market.
