Skillwill CEO Discusses Expansion and Innovation in Education
Interview with Vakhtang Turnava, CEO and Founder of Skillwill, on Expanding Educational Horizons
As Skillwill transitions from a Georgian neo-university to an international educational entity, what have been the key factors driving your choice of new markets like Azerbaijan and Italy?
Skillwill’s expansion into Italy and Azerbaijan was influenced by existing business relationships and the substantial market opportunities these countries offer. We recognized the potential for growth in Azerbaijan's tech field and the competitive but rewarding environment of Italy’s more mature market. Our unique training model, which combines technical knowledge, career care, and networking, is particularly novel for Italy.
How does Skillwill's use of technology create a more personalized and accessible professional education compared to traditional universities?
Skillwill leverages technology to personalize learning experiences, making them more accessible than conventional academic approaches. Our technology allows students to interact naturally, learn at their own pace, and stay engaged through our mobile app. This flexibility, coupled with online learning, makes professional education more widely accessible.
With expansion into diverse educational traditions and languages, how does Skillwill adapt its curriculum for cultural relevance and effectiveness?
While our core curriculum remains consistent, local experts help adapt our courses to each country’s cultural context. This involves tailoring teaching approaches and examples to ensure they resonate with local students. Our lecturers enrich the courses with relevant experiences, making them linguistically and culturally relatable.
As CEO, how do you measure the success of Skillwill's programs and their impact on students' professional lives?
Success at Skillwill is gauged by student satisfaction and the relevance of our programs to market demands. Our goal is to equip students for successful careers in the digital economy, focusing on not just technical skills but also career development and networking. The employment rate of our graduates is a key indicator of our program's success.
With plans to enter the Italian market and 2024 on the horizon, can you share any upcoming innovations or developments at Skillwill?
In 2023, we launched a unique mobile application, enhancing the learning management experience. In 2024, we plan to integrate a chatbot and AI-generated lectures to further personalize the learning experience. We’re also expanding our course catalog significantly, aiming to provide comprehensive education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and planning to enter new international markets.
