Silknet: Wounded Warrior Support Foundation granted 10 seated basketball chairs to Georgia’s wounded warriors’ team

The "Wounded Warriors Support Foundation", founded by Silknet, consistently collaborates with a range of international organizations, sharing experiences and methods to aid wounded military personnel and veterans.

The foundation secured a grant from the international charitable organization "Invictus Games Foundation," furthering the acquisition of ten seated basketball wheelchairs for the wounded warriors' team. With Silknet covering the transportation expenses, the wheelchairs have now been successfully provided to the team. Operating under the Ministry of Defense, this dedicated team has actively participated in various "Invictus Games" tournaments since 2014. The inclusion of new seated basketball chairs for Georgia’s wounded warrior team is set to significantly elevate their training capabilities, enabling them to compete admirably in the upcoming tournaments. In September, the team will participate in the forthcoming "Invictus Warrior Games" scheduled to take place in Dusseldorf.

The WWSF was established in 2018 by Silknet. The Foundation aims to provide support to wounded soldiers and veterans who fought in wars for the unity of our country and in international peace missions, as well as their underaged children and spouses. This foundation stands as a pioneering example of the business sector taking care of Georgia’s wounded warriors in close coordination with the Ministry of Defense of Georgia and the State Service of Veterans’ Affairs. Since its inception, the fund has disbursed approximately 2,500,000.00 GEL to fulfill the needs of military servicemen, veterans, and their underage children. This achievement is the result of a combined effort, including Silknet’s annual pledged contribution to the Fund, amounting to 300,000 GEL, additional funds raised through the Fund’s initiatives among businesses and individual donors, and co-financing from the government.
