Project "Debates for Better Education" Takes Place in Public Schools of Kazreti Supported by RMG

Students of Kazreti Public Schools N1 and N2, with the support of RMG, are undergoing intensive preparations for public debates in educational facilities.

The project, organized by the Georgian Institute of Debate and Education and the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation, aims to develop debating skills among students in Kazreti public schools. After completing the educational course, the students of Kazreti school will summarize the work of the debate clubs and will participate in the national tournament on behalf of Kvemo Kartli.

"Within the frameworks of the project, conducted research confirms the significance of debates in terms of both students and teachers. Young people develop skills such as constructive reasoning, argumentation, material retrieval, oratory, teamwork, time management, respect for the opponent, etc. In addition, debate techniques help them increase their academic achievement and communicate properly, which contributes to their personal development as a whole. We are glad that with the initiative and support of RMG, schools of Bolnisi Municipality also joined our project for the first time this year.", noted Tinatin Tsertsvadze, Chair Of The Board at Georgian Institute for Debate and Education.

Prior to the students, school teachers took part in a qualifying competition for the project, in which up to 150 teachers from across the country participated. In the final stage, 20 of them were selected who underwent intensive training in debate techniques and club leadership.

"Bolnisi Municipality has never had such an opportunity before, and now the teachers and students of Kazreti public schools have been given a chance to get involved in this very interesting project. We try to promote the education and development of children while teaching them debate techniques so that in the future they can successfully present themselves in both national and international tournaments.", noted Mariam Beria, a teacher at Kazreti Public School # 1.

Initiated by RMG, debate clubs were opened in Kazreti Public Schools N1 and N2 last fall. Currently, the latter facilities are actively working on the preparations for public debates. Organizing and promoting various educational projects in the field of non-formal education in the region is one of the priority areas of RMG corporate responsibility.

"Supporting education and youth is one of the most important areas of our company's corporate responsibility. With the support of the Debate Club, we think we will help the public schools of Kazreti, their teachers, and very talented students to become actively involved with the international and local projects and receive non-formal education, both in the debate and in many other relevant and interesting fields of studies.", noted Manager of Public Relations of RMG, Natali Nozadze.

The project "Debates for Better Education" was launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia in 2020 with the support of Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili and various international foundations and higher education institutions. The project aims to develop a network of debate clubs, special training for current and future teachers, and conduct scientific research, which is joined by the members of the Kazreti Debate Club.

Currently, 60 debate clubs operate in different regions of Georgia within the framework of the project, in which about 700 students are actively involved.

Debate clubs are currently launched in Kvemo Kartli, Adjara, Samegrelo, Svaneti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, Zemo Adjara, Imereti, Kakheti, Racha, and Tbilisi.
