New Requirements for Online Stores to Take Effect in December
Starting December, online retailers will be mandated to disclose their data on their websites, as per the "On Electronic Commerce" legislation.
Tamar Gogolashvili, the head of the Electronic Commerce Association, highlighted to "Business Partner" that non-compliance with information disclosure will result in fines for the concerned entities.
"The e-commerce law was activated in the summer, granting companies a six-month period to comply," explained Gogolashvili. "While reputable online stores typically adhere to high standards of transparency, those operating informally through social networks remain largely unregulated, posing a continued risk to consumers. It's up to customers to decide whether to engage with such vendors."
It's noteworthy that the "On Electronic Commerce" law was passed by Parliament in June 2023 after extensive development as part of the obligations under the association agreement with the European Union.
