New Investor to Build First Solar Power Plant in Georgia
New Inventor will build the first solar power plant in Georgia. The selection of an investor in the project "Desert Solar Power" will begin at the end of 2020. The investment cost was reduced by nearly $1 million and the investor will be able to build Solar Power Plant for $3,5-4 million.
The facility will be built on the territory of the village Udabno, in the region of Sagarejo and its annual output will be approximately 7 million kWh.
At first, the building of the first Solar Power Plant was planned in 2019. As Giorgi Chikovani, director of Georgian Energy Development Fund stated, the main reason for the delay was the unpredictability of electricity tariffs in the market.
Georgia is able to produce 900 MW of solar and wind energy by the year of 2025 and supply it to the network unhindered, however, at this stage, only 3% of these indicators are utilized.
