New Business Ombudsman Shares About His Plans and Tasks
Communication with business, proactive involvement in the problems of the private sector and reduction of bureaucracy - these are the main goals of the new ombudsman.
According to Otar Danelia, the Institute of Business Ombudsman has a high degree of delegation and will communicate with the Prime Minister on all problematic issues, which will reduce the time for resolving issues.
"The first thing we will start with is communication with business. As you know, the office didn't stop working, but nevertheless, this position was vacant for a long time, and this probably to some extent affected the direct communication with the private sector.
The Prime Minister's task is to minimize bureaucracy and to support businesses as much as possible, not only in terms of foreign investment, but also local business, which is a large, critical mass.
Several dozen issues are ongoing, which were also the case during the previous ombudsman, and require more involvement and complex resolution. These decisions will not be made in one room. It needs mediation, coordination, more mediation and making rational decisions based on that.
With the right communication we need to enter into trust with the business. Also, homework is left to complete the many regulations and documents that could not be passed due to the pandemic. I have a high level of delegation where I am accountable to the Prime Minister and on any business related issues I will obviously communicate with the Head of Government. It will make it much easier to solve the problem," Danelia said.
Let us remind you that the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili appointed Otar Danelia as Business Ombudsman on February 10, who during 2014, during the previous Prime Minister, held the post of Minister of Agriculture in Gharibashvili's cabinet. He was then a Member of Parliament of the Ninth Convocation. Most recently, he became Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
