Mikho Svimonishvili’s Swiss Agriculture School to Receive First Students in September

Starting the new academic year, the Swiss Agriculture School in the Caucasus will receive students for modern-standard vocational programs in Dmanisi, Kvemo Kartli region.

The project’s partner is Switzerland’s agriculture school PLANTAHOF. This very school prepares curricula, selects materials, plans educational enterprise, and trains teachers. The college makes focuses on vocational education programs in cattle-breeding and dairy production. Furthermore, farmers and interested persons are able to attend short-term vocational courses. The school provides both theoretical and practical courses. To his end, the college operates the cattle-breeding farm and a Swiss-standard modern cheese factory. The infrastructure also comprises a residential campus for 30 students and a small hotel for invited foreign teachers.

The registration has already started. The Government of Georgia will partly cover the tuition fees for students. The school will receive 30-50 students for 2-year diploma programs and they will live at the campus. Total investments in the project amounted to GEL 14 million. The program is supported by the Swiss Development Agency and United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili visited and saw the Swiss Agriculture School in the Caucasus in Dmanisi on August 10.
