Income Levels are Decreased Five Times - Hotel Banguriani

The financial director of the hotel "Banguriani" located in Mestia, Levan Jojua notes, that income levels are decreased five times, compared to last year. 

"Local tourism in summer brought us some income, then, we had to turn the hotel into quarantine space, with which we managed to overcome this period. We were keeping hotel and paying our employees. We were expecting the winter season with the hope that we would have visitors. Perhaps, restrictions on the winter season mean no visitors. We don't have any income and we can't keep our employees anymore. Only five of 25 employees remain now. Some of them found another job, and rest of them receive 300 GEL financial assistance from the state. We had a meeting with the Minister of Economy, with the request of opening hotels, however, the epidemiological situation in the country is so difficult, that this decision may be right.", declared Levan Jojua.

During the year, the hotel's average occupancy is 40%, in summer - 80%.

"We have a lot of expenses, communal taxes, insurance amount to pay, especially in the winter. If it will continue like this, the infrastructure of the hotel will be destroyed. We benefited from the loan subsidy program and it helped us, but interest charge still continues and in total, our loan will cost us additional 12,000 Euros.", noted financial director of the hotel.
