Ici Paris: Wearing Face Masks Reduced Demand for Cosmetics

Pandemic and wearing a face mask have reduced the demand for cosmetics. Maia Papalashvili, director of the perfume company Ici Paris, explains to Business Partner that consumers prefer self-care products.

"After wearing a face mask, our skin gets irritated, it dries, so costumers prefer self-care products over cosmetics. Therefore, it is difficult to import additional cosmetic brands now, ”Papalashvili said.

According to her, the people who went abroad and bought various products there, can not leave the country due to the pandemic and visit "Ici Paris" shops to buy perfume products.

"Sales in the luxury segment are higher than in the low segment, because customers in this category buy cosmetic products in pharmacies. Pharmacy chains have more discounts than we can do (I do not know at what cost, but they have the opportunity to offer customers 50-70% discounts). It should also be noted that sales in the middle and lower segments are not too reduced. The increase in sales in luxury can also be due to the fact that our network has quite good offers in this area, "- said Papalashvili.

Ltd. "Prestige" operates in the market under the trademark of "Ici Paris", the main activity of the company is retail and wholesale of cosmetic and perfume products. Today, 18 Ici Paris stores are represented in the Georgian perfume market. By the beginning of 2022, the company's network will increase to 20, with stores in Rustavi and Telavi added to the network.

There are about 80 perfume names in the stores of "Ici Paris": Chanel, Hermes, Sisley, Shiseido, YSL, Lancome, Narciso Rodriguez, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Chloe, Burberry, Bvlgari, Versace, J.P. Gaultier, I. Miyake, C. Klein, C. Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Cartier and others.
