Ice Cream Products on Georgian Market Deemed Safe Following Nationwide Inspection

The National Food Agency of Georgia has confirmed that ice cream products available on the local market are safe for consumption, based on recent inspection results.

In response to increased demand during the summer season, the Agency has intensified inspections of ice cream production facilities and retail outlets across the country. The inspections focus on evaluating production, storage, and sales conditions, as well as sanitary and hygiene standards, expiration dates, and adherence to required temperature regimes.

Simultaneously, as part of its state monitoring program, the Agency is conducting laboratory testing of both locally produced and imported ice cream. Samples are tested for salmonella, listeria, and trans fats.

To date, approximately 100 samples have been analyzed in an accredited laboratory, with all results falling within legally established safety norms. An additional 60 samples are scheduled for testing later this year.

The National Food Agency continues to monitor the ice cream sector to ensure public health and maintain high food safety standards throughout Georgia.
