Global Eco Project Georgia Starts Producing Black Tomatoes
In Gori, in the border village Niqozi, "Global Eco Project Georgia - Hub of Organic Farms" starts the production of black tomatoes.
The idea belongs to two friends who became the winners of a grant competition, got funding and created an innovative greenhouse. The authors of the project, Giorgi Badashvili and Guram Devidze, initially wanted to produce only black cherry tomatoes in the greenhouse, but now they plan to grow microgreens as well. The company is focused on the HoReCa sector in terms of sales.
"We already have negotiations with representatives of the HoReCa business sector and we plan to divide our greenhouse area into several sections. For example, Radisson may want black cherry, or Biltmore may need microgreens. Therefore, we will have demand from the HoReCa business according to the sections.", noted the executive director of the company.
The greenhouse is innovative and has no other analogs in Georgia. In particular, the building is designed in such a way that it collects solar energy throughout the day, and its heat is released in the evening, which promotes the faster growth of plants.
