Gepra Created the Georgian Font "Ukraine"
Agency ''Gepra'' dedicated Georgian font "Ukraine" to the Ukrainian people fighting for freedom.
The font was created based on the early form of Ukrainian writing - "Ustav" (the masterpieces of the manuscripts are the "Ostomir Gospel", "Arkhganskelsk Gospel", etc.).
Calligrapher Davit Maisuradze worked on the design and digitization of the modern font in many languages, with whom the agency has been digitizing manuscripts of famous public figures and monuments of Georgian writing and creating Georgian fonts in cooperation with him for the fourth year.
With the new font, it is possible to write in Georgian, Ukrainian, Abkhazian, English and German. It can be used in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, as well as in all MS Office programs. The font can be downloaded from the websites: Gepra and Calligraphy.
"Kyiv was the main Slavic literary center in the Middle Ages, where calligraphers created handwritten theological books. New calligraphic currents of Cyrillic were created and developed in Ukrainian monasteries. The font "Ukraine" is also based on one of the historical calligraphic types, which, together with Ukraine, spread to the countries of the South and East Slavs. The new font "Ukraine" contains both Georgian and Latin scripts stylized with Slavic aesthetics. I would like to proudly note that the font includes all the letters and signs of the Abkhazian language. All European (and not only) languages can be written with this font," noted calligrapher Davit Maisuradze.
"Ukrainian language is written using Cyrillic, a script with a beautiful and long history. We often call Cyrillic a Russian script, which is a mistake due to stereotypes formed by propaganda over the years, but the origins of this script have a less historical connection with modern Russia. The font "Ukraine" is dedicated to the Ukrainian people and their selfless struggle for freedom and independence," said Rusudan Ustiashvili, Gepra's special projects manager.
