Georgian Entrepreneur Maia Donadze Plans to Open a Cheese Store in Georgia

Georgian entrepreneur Maia Donadze is planning to open a cheese store "Maia Cheese" in Georgia in 2023 after launching the brand in Sri Lanka. In the future, she also considers starting producing cheese in Georgia.

"No one in Georgia produces blue cheese, Gouda, Parmesan, etc. There is not much variety in this regard. This niche is unexploited. I plan to come to Georgia in the near future and will definitely study the market. As far as I know, there is a problem with raw milk in the country, let's see how this problem will be solved.

When I started production in India, then the price of milk and water was the same, however, the state took this direction and started developing dairy farming. The situation was almost the same in Sri Lanka, however, today the country has developed so much that I can now freely buy 20,000 tons of natural milk.", noted Maia Donadze.

Currently, the company produces up to 45 varieties of cheese, including Georgian cheese - Sulguni.

"I haven't lived in Georgia for 30 years, Maia Cheese was first established in Goa, India, and in 2015 I opened the second enterprise of the company in Sri Lanka. Now I am building another plant in Sri Lanka. Therefore, the company will have 3 factories in total."
