"Gemovani" has opened a bread factory on the Tbilisi sea. The company, which produces 10 types of bread, makes its products with Georgian wheat.
The director of the company, Otar Nachkebia says that in the first year, only 10 tons of wheat were purchased, and this year, they plan to purchase 500 tons of wheat from farmers.
"We have been producing bread at Mzetamze for 7 years. This year, we moved to our own factory on the Tbilisi Sea, where along with the existing bread production, we added a stone mill to the factory, which grinds "tsetskhvili" flour.
During this time, we cooperate only with wheat farmers and buy identified wheat varieties from them. In the first year, we bought 10 tons, and from the harvest of 2022, we plan to buy and process about 500 tons and more. Wheat will be milled in our own factory, and white flour will be milled in our partner mills. In recent years, 200-250 thousand tons of wheat are coming to Georgia, this trend is increasing, and the consumption of the country as a whole is approximately 800 thousand tons,'' Nachkebia told BPN.
