Children's clothing manufacturer Bagana, known for its baby wraps, has seen a 30% increase in sales compared to the same period last year, according to founder Tinatin Ghakhokidze.
Ghakhokidze told "Business Partner" that the company began producing lactation shirts a year ago, and demand for these shirts has risen by approximately 15%.
"Our products are in great demand. We have increased the quantity of lactation shirts and improved their visuals. As for demand, sales are steadily increasing. The product is new, and we need to raise awareness; once that happens, we believe demand will grow even more. At this stage, we offer two colors of shirts - black and white," said Ghakhokidze.
Regarding expansion plans, Ghakhokidze mentioned that the company is not planning to expand into regional areas at this stage. "We presented our product in Zugdidi Mall, but it didn't work out. In Tbilisi, we received more orders from Zugdidi than from the store in the district. However, in our future plans, we will consider adding a branch in Batumi."
As for exports, the founder stated that the company is actively working on this front. Negotiations are currently underway to place Bagana products on foreign online platforms. "We have retail sales all over the world. However, shipping costs are quite high in the case of retail sales," she added.
For reference, Bagana, the first Georgian sling manufacturing startup, has been operating since 2017. The company's slings are sold for 89 GEL through several stores and online platforms. Raw materials are imported from Turkey and Poland.
Ghakhokidze did not specify the investment cost of the new line but noted that not much was invested initially, with the startup cost being about 15,000 GEL.
