Eye – as Inexhaustible Source of Inspiration – Ophthalmology Project by Nikoloz Kumbar

“Maybe, everybody has ever painted even one eye. It is one of the first visual organs with an inexhaustible source of inspiration and interpretation”. Today, we introduce the new project by Nikoloz Kumbar, co-founder and creative director for Holy Motors agency.

The project is called Ophthalmology that represents a collection of the latest illustrations. The works create visual concepts around an eye and the project unites various findings in one graphic style. “I have developed this project without deliberate purposes. Basically, I work on various concepts or experimental styles at odd moments, during breaks or vacations. The initially simple animation idea gradually grew into this small world. In general, I love seeing some concepts and their thematic visualizations. I have united them under one name”, Nikoloz Kumbar said.

The project unites 8 various concepts and compositions with their own themes and characters. “In general, the eye is the organ that reads and absorbs visual information. It is a cognitive instrument and I have used this component in one of the concepts – Eye Catcher.

The composition of Oizys was inspired by the Greek Mythological Goddess of Sorrow and Depression. Consequently, in these works, particles worship this huge eye dropping down huge tears. Eye Pills represent tablets against lack of attention. Eye Floaters – floating particles of the eye were transformed into the race of short peoples. Other works were starting with either playing in words or were inspired by widespread fears, for instance, by the fear of continuous spying”, Nikoloz Kumbar said.
