Eka Mazmishvili: All Tickets Sold Out for April at Marjanishvili Theater

Theaters resumed working on April 1, spectators will be able to attend performances on weekends.

Eka Mazmishvili talked to "Business Partner" about how they are preparing for the opening, what regulations they will have to work with and what expectations the Kote Marjanishvili State Drama Theater will meet.

According to the director of the theater, at this stage the theater will hold performances only on weekends, however, after a certain period, the days of the week will also be added.

Mazmishvili says that Marjanishvili Theater will hold its premieres on April 3-4.

"Due to the so-called curfew, performances will start at 4 o'clock, due to which performances will not be held on working days. However, we discussed this issue and we will add performances in the middle of the week, but not every day, ”said Mazmishvili.

Regarding the activity of the audience, Mazmishvili says that all the tickets for the performances by the end of April have been sold out.

"The theater opens as if it was not a year when we were closed. It turned out that theater is still the most important art in Georgia. About 2 hours after the publication of the poster, 70% of the tickets were sold out, ”said Eka Mazmishvili.

Eka Mazmishvili explains that Marjanishvili Theater has already prepared a number of premieres, therefore, she is sure that the audience will continue the activity in the future.

"During the season, our theater had 60,000 spectators, now this number will be much reduced due to the regulations. However, the interest from the viewer has not slowed down. As for the regulations and its observance, I do not think we will have a problem at any stage, because we are also undergoing trainings. We should not find it difficult to manage the flow of spectators, ”said Mazmishvili.

According to her, working in compliance with the regulations will cause a huge financial blow to the theater, revenues will be lower, although the salaries and utility costs of the actors will be provided by the budget.

"It would have created a lot more problems and the staging of future performances would have been questioned if we did not have our partners, such as Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, with whom we have signed a memorandum of cooperation," explains the theater director.
