Business Employed 8.1% More People Than Last Year

According to Geostat, in the fourth quarter of 2021, the number of employees in the business sector amounted to 693.4 thousand people, which is 8.1% more than in the same period last year.

Enterprises have spent GEL 3.255 billion on staff, an increase of 24% year on year.

42.7% of the total number of employees are women and 57.3% are men.

Of those hired, 664 thousand were men, 9% more than in the fourth quarter of 2020.

39.5% of employees come from large businesses, 22.5% from medium-sized businesses, and the remaining 38% from small businesses.

The average monthly salary in the business sector in the reporting period amounted to GEL 1,5977.8, which is an increase of GEL 181 compared to the same period last year. Among them, the salary of women increased by 173 GEL to 1,242.6 GEL.

The average monthly salary according to the size of enterprises is as follows:

⦁ Large business - 1 666.9 GEL

⦁Medium Business - 1 883.3 GEL

⦁ Small business - 1 328.1 GEL.

Number of employees by regions: Tbilisi - 65.6%, Adjara - 9%, Imereti - 7%, Kvemo Kartli - 5.7% and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 3.5%.

For information, the turnover of the business sector in the IV quarter of 2021 increased by 36.6% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 43.8 billion GEL.

During the same period, 61.2% of total turnover came from large businesses, 18.4% from medium-sized businesses, and 20.4% from small businesses.
