BTU held Cybersecurity Campaigns and Hackathons to Raise Awareness
The University of Business and Technology has hosted a large-scale cybersecurity forum under an EU-funded Jean Monnet project. The forum was held on March 22-23 in several sessions in physical format.
As Ani Chelishvili, Head of International and Development Services at the University of Business and Technology, explains, the two-day forum was the final event of the EU-funded Jean Monnet project, PEU-C-E.
"Jean Monnet's project has been implemented in coordination with BTU since October 2020. Within the framework of the project, we have developed 3-language informative, awareness-raising brochures tailored to 6 different target groups, conducted 2 events dedicated to the International Safer Internet Day in 2021 and 2022, and special cybersecurity campaigns in Tbilisi, Kakheti, and Kutaisi. We also hosted a cyber-hackathon for schoolchildren and students. We have gradually trained up to 1300 beneficiaries in Tbilisi and different regions of Georgia through EU cybersecurity strategy, secure internet, cyber-hygiene, cybernetics, through workshops and training, ”explains Ani Chelishvili.
The agenda of the forum was quite diverse and interesting. The speakers were representatives of leading local and international companies.
PEU-C-E - EU Cybersecurity Education Support is an Erasmus + Jean Monnet project in collaboration with the University of Business and Technology and Caucasus University. The project aims to uphold EU values and aims to share European best practices and experiences in raising awareness of safe internet, cyber-hygiene, and cybernetics among vulnerable young people, students, teachers, parents, professors, and decision-makers.
