Georgian Wine Exports Grow by 13%

In January-February 2019 Georgia exported 12.2 million bottles (0.75 l) of wine, up 13% year on year.

Total value of the exports constituted 30 million USD, up 21% year on year. The information was released by National Wine Agency.

According to the Agency, Georgian wine exports has increased to the USA, Asia, Europe and traditional markets. It is worth noting that Poland has moved to the 3rd place from the 5th place in the list of exporter countries.

Exports have grown on the strategic markets: Poland – 42% (628022), China – 7% (600783) and the USA – 1032% (128145); European countries: Lithuania – 75% (104616), France – 24% (17406), Sweden – 313% (9000), Bulgaria – 6% (4500); Traditional markets and Asia: Russia – 17% (8688854), Belarus – 1389% (80394), Azerbaijan – 8% (8814), Mongolia – 189% (66012) and other countries.

Top exporter countries: Russia (8688854), Ukraine (976482), Poland (628022), China (600783) and Kazakhstan (346152).

At the beginning of 2019, wine exports was carried out by 115 companies.

Companies exported 4.2 million bottles of brandy to 13 countries, up 89% year on year. Companies have also exported 85.4 thousand bottles of Chacha to 10 countries, up 188% year on year.

Total incomes from exports of wines, brandy and Chacha and brandy spirits exceeded 43.6 million USD, up 13% year on year.
