This Ultra Rare Coachbuilt Corvette Is Actually Made in Italy

Supercars, hypercars, sportscars: most are owned by the wealthy elite in society. Gordon Kelly, however, was just an enthusiast.

His passion led him to design his own dream car, which ultimately got passed onto and made by Italian automobile makers Vignale, and thus the Kelly Corvette was born. Back in the day, coachbuilders would build the body separate from the chassis; this would allow for individualization of the body before matching it with a chassis.

Kelly thus designed the body for this coachbuilt Corvette and married it to a 1961 Corvette body, creating a one-of-a-kind sportscar the world had never seen. Now owned by George Breslow, the automotive “van Gogh” he owns is thankfully driven and not stored away in a garage — it seems an enthusiast spirit once belonging to Gordon Kelly had passed through the car and onto George Breslow who thankfully is enjoying the Kelly Corvette for all it has to offer.
