Today President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Grand Mufti of Russia Rawil Ganetdin opened a Europe’s biggest mosque in Moscow.
The new mosque was built on the place of the historic mosque demolished in 2011, near “Olympiskiy” and “Prospekt Mira” metro stations.
Moscow’s new Mosque is the biggest in Europe. It consists of 6 levels and can accommodate around 10 thousand visitors. The sum invested in the construction of the mosque totaled $170 million. The project was implemented by the financial assistance of generous benefactors, RBC.ru writes.
Several Muslim world leaders attended the opening ceremony of the Mosque, including the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, head of Palestine Mahmud Abbas. Also present at the ceremony was the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnkhanov, Ingushetiya’s head Yunus-Bek Evrukov and President of Dagestan Ramzan Abdulatipov.
