Anne Frank to come to life in animated film for children

The first images from the upcoming animated feature based on the diary of Anne Frank have emerged.

Israeli blog Mako’s Cinemascope on Monday posted the shots taken from London’s Passion studios, where Academy Award-nominated director Ari Folman (Waltz With Bashir) has beenworking on the feature with collaborators British puppetmaker Andy Gent (Frankenweenie,Fantastic Mr. Fox) and Israeli art director/illustrator David Polonsky, who previously worked with Folman on Waltz With Bashir and his 2013 follow-up, The Congress.

Folman was reportedly approached directly by The Anne Frank House museum in Amsterdam to undertake the film project celebrating the Holocaust diary writer. The family-oriented feature incorporates both classic and stop-motion animation, with Folman telling Cinemascope that the high price of the dolls brought about the need to incorporate both techniques.
