Wine Export Generated More Than $70m Income For Georgia

 Income from Georgian wine exports increases. According to the National Wine Agency, in the first half of 2017, more than 31,5 million bottles (0,75 l) Georgian wine has been exported to 44 countries. This figure is 59% higher than the same indicator for 2016.

During the reporting period, exports amounted to 70.5 million US dollars, which is 51% more than in the same period of 2016.

“According to the first six months of 2017, wine exports have increased by 59% compared to the same period of 2016. Increasing revenue from wine sales increased by 51%, as well as more world markets open up to import Georgian beverage. Export had increased in the EU countries, China, the US and other markets, as a result of jointly planned marketing activities and concerted efforts of the National Wine Agency and Private Sector.’’-states chairman of National Wine Agency-Giorgi Samanishvili.

The five countries that imported the most Georgian wine:

  • Russia-19 313 343 bottles
  • China-3 842 412 bottles
  • Ukraine-2 983 000 bottles
  • Poland-1 212 704 bottles
  • Kazakhstan-1 163 827 bottles

Export growth should be also noted in following countries:
