Electronic Certification System Launched for Winemakers

National Wine Agency has launched an electronic certification system, which is to alleviate certification procedures. Winemakers will fill out declaration and statement by the internet and will have to visit the agency for only taking certificates.

The agency director Giorgi Samanishvili noted at the meeting with winemakers that winemaking companies have taken active part in revising certification regulations. Common objective is to improve the quality control system, he said. “Government and private sector agree that low-quality wines must not be produced in Georgia”, he added.
Representatives of winemaking companies were trained in new electronic certification system.

Changes were made to Regulations for Certification of Grapes Strong Drinks and Grapes Spirit. Objective of these changes is to ensure quality control of products.

It should be noted that starting January 1 all categories of exports wines were subjected to mandatory tasting. Previously, this obligation referred to only wines with indications of origin.
