“We expect tourists inflow to rise by 20% in 2018”, G&T expert Eva Bochorishvili told Business Morning TV program. Indicators of the beginning of this year give a ground for such optimistic forecasts, she added.
“Tourists inflow rose by 27% in January and by 23% in February. As to tourism sector revenues, we expect 15% upturn to 3.100 billion USD”, Bochorishvili said.
Georgia’s popularization campaign is gaining momentum and this factor creates good expectations, she said and stressed the importance of expected visa-free regime with China.
“As announced, visa-free regime may be introduced for organized tourism groups from China if we consider this issue in the context of visa regime removal with Iran. For the coming 3 years we expect 500000 Chinese tourists to arrive in Georgia. This depends on how timely final decision will be taken on the issue”, Bochorishvili said.
