Georgia’s Revenues from Foreign Tourism Totaled $481 million

In the fourth quarter of 2016 Georgia’s revenues from foreign tourism constituted 481 million USD, up 12.5% year on year (+54 million USD).

According to National Tourism Administration, in 2016 Georgia’s total revenues from foreign tourism exceeded 2.2 billion USD, up 11.9% year on year (+230 million USD).

Tourism sector’s ratio in GDP marked 6.3% in the fourth quarter of 2016, up 15.8% year on year, while the 2016 ratio in total GDP marked 6.7%, up 11.8% year on year.

In January-February 2016 transactions made by foreign tourists through foreign payment cards made up 293.065 thousand GEL, up 33.9% year on year. According to the 2016 indicators, international visitors’ transactions by foreign payment cards totaled 1 624 808 thousand GEL, up 11.4% year on year.
