Agency of Protected Areas became Member of European Parks Federation

Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili attended solemn ceremony held for Agency of Protected Areas becoming member of European Parks Federation.

The Vice-President of the Federation of Protected Areas Michael Hosek handed the certificate confirming memnership at the event.

Levan Davitashvili addressed the audience and discussed the importance of joining the Federation.

”Georgian Protected Areas will be presented next to Europe’s best protected areas from now on, that will play an important role in promoting protected areas of Georgia throughout Europe and the world. Nature lovers will learn more about Georgia’s biodiversity. We get an opportunity to share the best experience and knowledge and to actively cooperate with other members of federation,”- Minister said.

The European Parks Federation is recognized as European National Parks and Nature professional network in the world. The Federation has 36 member countries and hundreds of protected areas.

The entry of Georgia was supported by the Embassy of the Czech Republic, WWF Caucasus office, TJS and KWF.
