Japanese pop culture, in the form of anime, manga and other media, is highly popular all over the world today, and Georgia is among them. Although, there was no available information for Georgians on native language, only until young anime-lovers created both magazine and digital source: tokyo.ge. CBW had an interview with its founders about their vision:
What is Otaku Life about?
Otaku Life Is first Georgian magazine about Japanese pop culture. Our aim is to spread the cultures in Georgia such as: anime, manga, cosplay and so on.
How did you come up with the idea, which factor helped you implement and develop your startup?
We found out there was lack of information about Japanese culture, before we launched our startup. As the goal of startup is to solve some kind of problem, we decided to work out this issue. In the beginning, fan dubbing anime website Tokyo.Ge helped me to share about Otaku Life.
How did public react to the appearance of your brand and who is your target group?
We created poll on Facebook page, in order to check if there was such demand on market. Fortunately, the feedback was positive. After publishing first magazine, the costumers were pleased and thankful for making such kind of product, it was the biggest motivation for us. Our target audience is people between 12 to 30 years of Georgian otaku, the people who are interested in Japanese pop culture.
Tell us a little bit about your team and work process.
Our group consists of three otakus : Nino Natobidze, Ana Osiashvili and Temo Giorgadze. We love what we do and try hard to get people love and learn about beautiful art of anime and manga. Before we publish another magazine, we always gather in familiar environment nd talk about main theme of next issue, after that we share the topics to work on, and set deadlines, at last we show our works to each other and make final decisions.
In which directions are you planning to develop your startup?
We decided to make internet shows about anime topics in the future. Also, we would like to open the space where anime lovers can gather and share ideas. The last step for the near future will be making the same project in Azerbaijan and Armenia.
