Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and the Chairman of Parliament of Georgia discussed labor safety issues in the development sector and a bill of amendments to the code of products safety and free turnover.
Amendments prepared by the initiative of Tbilisi Mayor will be added to the legislative bill on Labor Safety. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze noted that amendments toughen sanctions against violation of labor safety norms.
“The first case of violation will be fined by 30 000 GEL. Specific company, which continues operation there, where construction works were suspended because of violations, will be fined by 50 000 GEL. Moreover, if illegal construction works are carried out on the territory owned by the state, municipality, the fine will be 25 000 GEL. Fine for illegal works on a private property will be 20 000 GEL.
Naturally, this will foster resolution of this problem on construction sites. We expect the bad practice of working without construction helmets and and rope assistance will be removed. Building companies should be interested themselves to provide valuable labor safety conditions for their employees. I think these fines will enable to resolve the current problems”, Kakha Kaladze said.
