Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili opened the Youth Olympic Festival 2015 at Mikheil Meskhi stadium yesterday.
“I declare the Youth Olympic Festival opened,” the PM exclaimed. Olympic Games Committee Vice-Chairman Alexi Akhvlediani addressed the athletes at the ceremony.
“We turned a dream into reality. We carried out infrastructure projects; 7 out of 11 sports arenas were built for the Olympic Games. The Olympic village was built for you. You are distinguished. This is your festival,” he said. He thanked the Prime Minister, the Olympic Committee President, the Tbilisi Mayor, the Minister of Sport and everyone who took part in the preparation efforts.
President of the European Olympic Committees Patrik Hickey said the European youth will brighten Tbilisi in the coming days and Tbilisi will have inherit its infrastructure after the games.
