Tbilisi Unites Azerbaijani, Georgian Sculptors

A unique exhibition has opened in Tbilisi, bringing together artists of two neighboring nations – Azerbaijan and Georgia.

The exhibition displays the works of famous sculptors Omar Eldarov and Merab Merabishvili at the Georgian National Museum, Trend Life reported.

The event is co-organized by the Association “Cultural dialogue XXI” and Georgian Cultural Fund and Museum, as well as Azerbaijan’s National Art Museum.

The project aims to show the close ties between culture and art of two Transcaucasian States.

In their speech, General Director of the National Museum of Georgia David Lortkipanidze and Director of Azerbaijan’s National Art Museum Chingiz Farzaliyev noted that such an activity does not just strengthen cooperation between the museums, but also carries a special message of a universal language of intercultural dialogue.

Creative people always remain outside the system limits. The only measure for them is the beauty and an artistic idea. Omar Eldarov and Merab Merabishvili, the authors of many works that received worldwide recognition, are the clearest examples of that.

Thought their art, both sculptors have won the right to be named masters and patriots. They always promoted a national art of their countries.

The exhibition will last until June 29, after which the exposition will be presented in Azerbaijan.
