Tbilisi City Hall to Introduce New Parking Model

A new parking model will be introduced in Tbilisi in 2019. The new model has been developed as part of the municipal transport policy, Tbilisi mayor Kakha Kaladze said.

“A new parking model will be introduced in 2019. The new model calls for arranging a zonal parking. We have already prepared a due bill and the document will be submitted to the Parliament. I would like to urge the legislative body to back our plan, because it is very important to implement this project”, Kakha Kaladze noted.

Tbilisi Mayor also urged municipal offices to provide legal reaction to economic activities within municipal parking zones.

“There are a lot of cases when transport or other movable means are placed within municipal parking zones, especially in economic active zones and tourism zones. Frequently, trailed vehicles are parked there, sometimes, for issuing visas and providing tourism services. This is ordinary economic activity. Parking zones exist so as citizens use them and park they vehicles. Under the legislation, economic activity is restricted in parking zones. Therefore, you are to make due reaction so as our citizens could use municipal parking services and these location must not be applied for economic activities”, Kakha Kaladze noted.
