Steinmeier Supposes that Georgia will get VISA Liberalization in September

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier supposes  that Georgia will get VISA liberalization with the EU from the second half of September.

Steinmeier has declared about it at the joint briefing held with Georgian Feign Minister and noted on the tight cooperation between two countries.

“We have agreed that 2017 will be a friendship year of Georgia and Germany in order to deepen relations between these two countries”, – German Foreign Minister said and expressed respect towards the reforms, carried in Georgia through the recent years.

However, topic of VISA free regime has been also actual at the briefing.

“It has been a very long process and Georgia has made a big step forward. We especially appreciate it. The issue of VISA liberalization is not to be or not to be, the sole issue is when it will be”, – Steinmeier said. According to him, formal procedures linked to the VISA free regime should be finished before the end of July.

He noted, that mechanism of VISA free regime suspension must exist as well, on which the EU Parliament works.
