Sighaghi to be Rehabilitated this Year

Rehabilitation project of historic buildings, state and private facilities started in Sighnaghi during the previous government, which cost about 22 million GEL.

The locals say that since 2008, one of the most demanded tourist destinations in Kakheti has not been rehabilitated and the existing infrastructure needs renewal.

The Kakheti regional governor’s administration told BM that 100 000 GEL will be spent on rehabilitation works of roads and streets, as well as facades, but budget funds will not be enough for full rehabilitation of infrastructure.

“The local budget of the Sighnaghi municipality has a minimum of 100 000 GEL for facilitation of the facades, as well as rehabilitation of the road and 11 streets, the restoration of damaged pavements, painting the facades of the building and replacement of the rims of the balconies. The above mentioned amount is 100 000 GEL and the procurement of the project is underway, after the completion of which the tender will be announced on the completion of the works, “the governor’s administration said.
