Second Round of Presidential Elections to be held on December 2

The second round of elections will be held on December 2, – Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Tamar Zhvania said at the briefing today.

According to Zhvania, the final results of the elections will be published within 20 days, after which the second round will be held in 2 weeks.

“Considering the preliminary results, it is possible to say that we will have a second round. The second round has its own procedures. Results shall be published within 20 days. The second round will  be held on Sunday in two weeks after the final summary protocol is published that is   on December2,”- Zhvania says.

According to the preliminary data of the Central Election Commission, ruling party-backed candidate Salome Zurabishvili received 615 403 votes (38,63%) and United Opposition’s candidate Grigol Vashadze received 601 175 votes (37.74%).

According to Tamar Zhvania, 3703 precincts have now been counted, which is almost 100 percent of all polling stations. According to her, 1 637 956 voters participated in the elections, which is 46.74% of the total number of voters.
