Russia-occupied Abkhazia to Receive Electricity according to the Schedule

For the purpose of preventing Enguri HPP suspension, today, on February 20, electricity supply will be ceased to Russia-occupied Abkhazia from 12 o’clock to 15 o’clock.

Levan Mebonia, head of the board of directors of Enguri HPP, told Business Morning that the mentioned restriction enables to save 1.100 million kw/h and these restrictions will be maintained until the water level is stabilized in Enguri HPP.

„This may happen in early April”, he noted.

Levan Mebonia released a statement on Enguri HPP suspension on February 19 and he noted that the water level had fallen to critical mark as a result of growing electricity consumption. Without the facility suspension, the HPP will be left without water and it will suspend operation by March 5, he said.

On February 19 Enguri HPP generated 8 million kw/h of electricity.
