Results of Global Peace Index Published

Institute of Economics and Peace is an independent, non-profit organization that has been issuing a “Global Peace Index” for 11 years. This is a rating of 163 independent countries ranked by peace index.

“IEP” has analyzed 23 indicators, including violent demonstrations and weapon import, in three categories: Social Security Level, Volume of current and international conflicts and level of militarization. Overall, the surveyed countries constitute 99.7% of the world’s population.

Iceland, New Zealand and Portugal take top three places. Portugal advanced comparing to the previous year, took third place, leaving Austria and Denmark behind.Georgia has moved from 96th to 94th place and is below the lowest number of countries like Nepal, Jamaica, Burkina Faso, etc.

It should be noted that Russia is considered one of the least peaceful countries and occupies 151th place on the list. (13th from the end). As for Ukraine, it is in the 154th place.

The neighboring countries – Turkey (146), Azerbaijan (132) and Armenia (112) are not at the top of the peace index.

Research also showed, that global peace index increased for the first time since 2014.

Data error does not exceed 5%.
