The most beautiful and historical district of Tbilisi has been restored – rehabilitated David Aghmashenebeli Avenue, the first stage of the New Tbilisi large-scale project, was jointly unveiled by Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Tbilisi Mayor and Vice Mayor.
Then project was fulfilled in unprecedented short time – 7 months.
Original appearance was returned to 47 historical buildings, including 38 culture heritage monuments. Roofs of buildings have been entirely replaced and restored, structure of buildings have been strengthened, authentic appearance was returned to facades of buildings and their historical ornaments. Full rehabilitation was carried out on old balconies, doors and gates.
Building glass frames and doors and windows were replaced by high-quality materials. Historical entrances were rehabilitated. Paintings and historical inscriptions found in the project implementation process on facades and in entrances were restored.
Yards have been accommodated, Communications system have been entirely replaced on Avenue – gas, water, sewage networks and Internet and electricity network. Drainage and off-take systems were also arranged, because their absence posed threats to structural steadiness of buildings.
