Prime Minister Introduces Package of Structural Changes in Government

Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze has introduced a package of structural changes in the Government. At the briefing that was held at the Government’s Office, Mamuka Bakhtadze told reporters that the number of Ministries will be cut to 11 ones, including 1 office of State Minister.

Mamuka Bakhtadze has introduced the following structural changes: Ministry of Culture and Sports will be merged with Ministry of Education and Science.

Penitentiary Ministry will be merged with Justice Ministry. Functions of Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation will be shared to three various Ministries – functions of accommodation of IDPs will be transmitted to Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Migration functions will be transmitted to Interior Ministry, while social issues will be transmitted to Health Ministry.

Moreover, Agency of Religion will be amalgamated with State Ministry for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, while space arrangement component of Economy Ministry will be transmitted to Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.
